COVID-19 UPDATES FOR Travelling to Himachal Pradesh IN 2021 

Post lockdown people have left the confines of their homes for a break from the stress and anxiety from the pandemic. The second wave did press pause in the country, however recent improvement has been a sign of relief. As of 30th August 2021, cent per cent of the population in Himachal had received the first dose of vaccine against covid. As the state has opened the gates for tourists and relaxed all restrictions on interstate travel. Below are COVID-19 Guidelines for Travelling to Himachal Pradesh.

  • By Air: All passengers are to provide a negative RT-PCR report 72 hours prior to travel or a certificate of vaccination against Covid (both doses). No quarantine or mandatory covid test is required for entering the state. However, registering on the Arogya setu app is mandatory.  
  • By Rail: People travelling to Himachal by rail won’t need an e-pass anymore. The thermal screening will be done on all necessary entry points. It is advised to carry own clean linens while travelling especially for long journeys. 
  • By Road: E-Pass is no longer mandatory and Interstate transport buses resume with 50% of passenger occupancy. Violation of Covid guidelines like roaming without a mask will result in a fine of up to INR 5000 or even imprisonment.     

In Addition to the above guidelines, The tourist has to follow guidelines given by respective districts or local governing bodies.

Dalhousie

COVID-19 Guidelines for Travelling to Karnataka in 2021

Though it is second to Maharashtra, in terms of COVID-19 cases, the number of new cases has significantly subsided. The state continues to adhere to certain preventive measures, including specific guidelines for residents of the state.

Travelling to Karnataka

Education centres and entertainment venues like cinema halls will be opened to those with 50 per cent occupancy to those who have at least one dose of the covid vaccine. However, the increasing number of cases in Kerala has attracted new restrictions on neighbouring state travellers. The state government has made it mandatory to register on Seva Sindhu Portal regardless of the mode of travel.

  • By Rail: There is no mandatory quarantine or screening on arrival into the state via rail with a valid ticket. The occupancy has been increased to 50% for travellers in vehicles. Passengers can seek aid by calling the Apthamitra helpline at 14410 or registering on the app. For long journeys, it is advisable to carry linens of your own and maintain self-hygiene. 
  • By Road: A penalty will be charged in case passengers are found without a mask in public areas. Screening may be mandatory at several entry points of the state borders. Travellers apart from Maharasthra and Kerala don’t require to provide negative RT-PCR tests. 

Travellers from Maharasthra can now travel to Karnataka without an RT-PCR test if provided of both vaccine doses. Certification of even one dose or a negative RT-PCR test is required to travel in for the recent hit Vistadome train from Yeswantpur to Mangore.

COVID-19 Guidelines for Travelling to Maharashtra in 2022

Maharashtra is the second populous state in India. It also houses Mumbai, which is the largest and most inhabited city. It is also the city that houses many of the top celebrities of the world, namely Bollywood superstars. Maharashtra state guidelines

The pandemic has educated the world about essential preventive measures. It majorly includes day to day practices to prevent the spread of the virus. Covering your nose and mouth, with a mask, at all times; maintaining social distance; paying extra attention to personal hygiene and sanitation.

In lieu of the recent discovery of the Covid variant – Omicron, new travel guidelines take place to contain before another outbreak. Read below rule and regulation while entering the state.   

TRAVELLING TO MAHARASHTRA IN 2021

  • By Air: Domestic passengers travelling to Maharashtra will need to carry an RT-PCR negative test report that is conducted within 72 hours of travel before departure. Fully vaccinated passengers are exempt from pre-departure test. The busiest airport in Maharashtra is Mumbai, however, one can also fly into Aurangabad, Pune, Nasik/ Shirdi (both Limited flights). International travelers will have to go through institutional quarantine for seven days with second test on eight day arriving from ‘At Risk’ countries, rest are subjected to mandatory home quarantine.
  • By Rail:  Train passengers will be requested to provide an RT-PCR negative test report undertaken 72 hours prior to travel or a vaccination certificate. However, an antigen test on arrival will be allowed too. Those entering the state will all have to go through thermal screening. In case of delay in results, contact information will be noted and informed to officials in case of positive reports. E-pass facility is activated and allowed for passengers who completed 15days after being fully vaccinated,  to board local trains.
  • By Road:  There is no restriction on interstate travel, regardless, a negative antigen/ RTPCR report or a full vaccination certificate (both doses) is required for all entering the state borders. E-pass is no more mandatory unless travelling to or from a district with tier 5 of un-lockdown. Long-distance buses and trains are operational.

Note: RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time. It is advisable to also keep necessary medicines, mask, pocket sanitizers while travelling.

Mumbai

The state capital is one of the busiest airports in the country after Delhi. Tadoba

Visit the oldest and largest national park of the state while travelling to Maharashtra, which is also one of the most important tiger reserves of the country. Public transport is available from these cities too, state buses run frequently to Harihareshwar, Dighi, Diveagar, Borli and Shrivardhan.

Shrivardhan is the closest city to this holy town. A stop for all your medical or holiday purchases is suggested here. Though Harihareshwar also has many stores for retail purchase, from religious artifacts, souvenirs to take away fruit pulps and dry fruits and fish. Many of the lunch homes though are purely vegetarian, yet don’t hesitate to look for non-vegetarian restaurants. Expect to get fresh seafood and taste value for money. The path to the temple is defended by small houses and snack stalls on both sides. The stalls run from early morning to sundown serving hot Maharashtrian snacks such as Vadapav, Misal and many more.

Kalbhairav – Yogeshwari temple is the main attraction, also known as Harihareshwar temple. There is a small temple visited before witnessing the ancient Shiv Ling in the main temple. The pilgrims believe to take a parikrama (circumambulation) around the sacred places for eternal blessing. The Parikrama is suggested only during low tides as many points are on the shore and amidst uneven rocky platforms.

how to reach the MURUD-JANJIRA FORT

Murud is just 50 km from Alibaug. The nearest airport to this town is Mumbai which is 160 kms away. On the other hand, Roha is the nearest station north of Murud and is only an hour away. Besides this, there are government buses to Murud at regular intervals, but the frequency varies in the monsoon season. Given the condition of the roads along this route, a private vehicle is highly advisable.

As the coastal route passes through the western ghats, be ready for a roller coaster ride and sharp turns. The scenic view of the coast is definitely worth the bumpy ride. You could make a few stops along the way while visiting the Murud Janjira fort. Kashid beach is the ideal stop for a light snack, with local food stalls, hammocks and benches along the beach.

History OF THE MURUD – JANJIRA FORT

The Murud Janjira Fort was built in the second half of the 17th century under the administration of the Sultan of Ahmednagar. After several conflicts that took place around the fort, the Siddis succeeded in conquering it. They had complete control and domination over the Murud – Janjira Fort for over 100 years. They defended it with all their might, defeating enemies like the Portuguese, Britishers and the Marathas.

The Siddis and Peshwa Bajirao of the Marathas fought a battle in 1736. The long drawn battle ended with the Marathas emerging victorious. Despite the decline of the Maratha empire, the fort remained unconquered for decades. Finally, post independence, the Murud Janjira Fort became a part of the India Territory. It is now a treasured gem, an architectural marvel with a fascinating history.

The name Murud – Janjira is derived from the Arabic word ‘Jazeera’ which means Island. Murud Janjira Fort was home to approximately 572 cannons, used to launch cannonballs on the enemy army. Of the 572 cannons. only 3 cannons exist presently. Namely, the Kalalbangadi, Chavri and Landa Kasam, located at the very top of the fort. Given their massive size and fascinating history, these cannons continue to be a popular tourist attraction.

Besides this, the fort was also home to some of the most splendid tombs, water tanks, and a few stone sculptures. The entrance gate, known as “Sher Darwaza” (Tiger’s Door), is the most well-known gate of the fort. It is adorned with a small sculpture of six elephants and a tiger. The fort gates faced Rajapuri, a small coastal village, just 4 km from Murud city. The boats to the fort are still operational from Rajapuri. The second popular gate is the “Darya Drawaza”, which opens to the other side of the fort, leading to the sea. This was used as an escape route in the time of battle.
