Rien n’est surprenant en ce qui concerne la fascination du monde pour le Taj Mahal.

Shah Jahan, l’empereur moghole l’a fait construire pour sa défunte femme, Mumtaz.

Ceci est le récit historique de ce monument mais en réalité, le Taj Mahal renferme de nombreux secret très souvent ignorés de la majorité.

Environ 22.000 ouvriers parmi lesquels des peintres, des brodeurs, des orfèvres et l’on en passe  ont travaillé pour faire la construction de ce monument.

D’après la légende, l’empereur Shah Jahan voulait faire construire un autre Taj Mahal en marbre noir sur l’autre rive du fleuve mais ses plans ont été interrompus par son petit fils qui le jetta en prison avant que son rêve ne se réalise.

Selon la même légende,Shah Jahan fut si perturbé à la suite de la mort de sa reine , que ses cheveux et sa barbe sont devenu blancs en quelques mois seulement.

 

La couleur du Taj Mahal change selon l’heure du jour….Il est rose à l’aube du jour, blanc le soir et doré la nuit. On dit que ces couleurs symbolisent l’humeur changeant des femmes, en particulier, de la reine.

Il fallut près de  17 ans pour construire le Taj Mahal.
Les quatre côtés du monuments, sont parfaitement identiques. Cela se base sur le principe de la symétrie architecturale.

Le Taj Mahal est entouré de plusieurs jardins et autres bâtiments dont une mosquée (qui ne servit jamais car elle n’est pas tournée vers la Mecque) et une pension pour accueillir les invités.Taj_Mahal_-_La_mosquee_et_son_image_003

Le monument mesure 171 mètres de haut.

 

On a employé presque 1000 éléphants pour le transport des matières premières.
 
Beaucoup de pierres précieuses ont été arrachées par les anglais pendant la colonisation de l’Inde.materials6
