Winter in Kochi (October to February)

Winters in Kochi are cool and pleasant. The temperatures range from 17 to 30 degrees Celsius, and it is the best time to visit Kochi. The Cochin Carnival takes place in December. A vibrant festival full of music, dance, parades, and fireworks, you will surely feel the festive spirit in the air.

Make sure you book your tickets and accommodations in advance, though, as this is a peak tourist season and everything tends to get sold out quickly.

Summer in Kochi (March to June)

While Kochi is pleasant to visit throughout the year, March arrives with an increase in temperature. The days are hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 37 degrees Celsius. This is an off-season for tourism in Kochi, but not a bad time to visit. You can truly enjoy the city in peace – there are not many tourists crowding the tourist attractions, and you can get good discounts on hotels and tickets.

If you do decide to visit Kochi in summer, make sure you pack sunscreen and light, cotton clothes with you, along with sunglasses and a cap or hat. Stay hydrated at all times. If the heat is too much during the day, you can explore some indoor attractions and try out the outdoor activities during late afternoons or evenings. The backwaters of Kerala are also a perfect escape from the chaos of the city.

Monsoon in Kochi (June to September)

June to September is monsoon season in Kochi. Monsoon is not the peak tourist season in Kochi, but if you want to experience the true beauty of nature in God’s Own Country, this is the best time to visit Kochi. Surrounded by Western Ghats, Kochi becomes a lush green paradise during the monsoon season. The season brings out the best side of Kochi, with dramatic skies and verdant landscapes. Temperatures stay between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. Be prepared for a lot of rainfall and humidity. Also, don’t forget to keep umbrellas or raincoats with you at all times.

The rains don’t put a stop to your activities in Kochi – you can still enjoy a nice staycation, looking out at the rain while enjoying a cup of chai or coffee, or visit museums and art galleries. Kerala is also well known for its Ayurvedic treatments, so you can get a nice Ayurvedic massage in the monsoons!
