The best time to visit Alibaug depends on the kind of trip you are looking for. A small coastal town in Maharashtra, Alibaug offers serene beaches, historic sites, rich culture, and delicious food. It is the perfect getaway from Mumbai and Pune, no matter when you go. Read on to find the best time to visit Alibaug.

Winter season in Alibaug (October to February)

Winter is the best time to visit Alibaug. Spanning October to February, the winter season brings a mild and pleasant climate, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius.

This is the perfect time to explore this charming beach town. Unwind at the pristine beaches of Mandwa, Varsoli, and Kihim, or try water sports like jet skiing, banana boat ride, and parasailing at Nagaon Beach and Alibaug Beach. Explore the historic forts like Murud Janjira, Kolaba, and Khanderi-Underi. Alibaug also has many historic temples if you want to visit, such as Someshwar Temple and Hanuman Temple.

You can enjoy camping near the beach. There are also a few festivals that take place in winter, such as Diwali, Alibaug Beach Festival, and Alibaug Food Festival. Indulge in the delicious local cuisine – definitely try the fish thali and sol kadhi while you are here!

This is the peak tourist season in Alibaug. The weekends are especially packed with tourists, since Alibaug is just a short ride away from Mumbai and Pune. Try to book tickets and accommodations in advance, since all the good places get sold early.

Summer season in Alibaug (March to June)

Summers in Alibaug are hot and humid. Temperatures range between 21 and 40 degrees Celsius, but the proximity to the sea makes the climate bearable. Regardless of the heat, tourists flock to Alibaug in the summer season, especially in April and May.

Early mornings and evenings are pleasant, with cool breezes and comfortable climate by the beach. You can participate in water sports, go for a swim at the beach, or simply relax and taste the local cuisine at the beach shacks.

While this is not an off-season per se, you will find lesser crowds in summer due to the heat. It is a great time for budget travelers. You can enjoy a nice staycation somewhere by the beach.

Carry loose, breathable clothes, a hat or cap, and sunglasses. Apply plenty of sunscreen, and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Monsoon season in Alibaug (July to September)

July to September is the monsoon season in Alibaug. The heavy rains bring respite from the heat of the summer months. The temperatures range from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius, and Alibaug transforms into a verdant paradise. It is a great time for nature lovers to visit the region, as the landscape offers dramatic skies, misty views, and a variety of flora and fauna out and about.

There are many monsoon treks arranged in Alibaug, a beautiful experience if you love trekking and hiking. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi takes place in monsoon, and it is worth attending in Alibaug.

This is the off season for tourism in Alibaug. Many water sports and outdoor activities are closed due to the rains and rough seas. Ferry rides may also be limited, and you might face delays and cancellations in plans.

If you don’t mind the rain, this is one of the prettiest times to visit Alibaug. We would advise against swimming in the sea, though, since the waters can be choppy. Make sure you carry an umbrella or raincoat with you, as well as extra clothes and bug repellent.

The festival also has many competitions and events as well.
