Tourists from all over the world travel to India for an exotic vacation. The gorgeous white sand beaches across Southern India are one of the many highlights of exploring the country. Despite this, there are several hidden gems that continue to remain unexplored.  The beaches of Konkan, the coastal region of Southwest India, are some of the most beautiful, untouched beaches.

Due to their off-beat location, these pristine beaches are secluded yet completely worth the drive. Here’s a list of some of the best beaches on the Konkan belt, between Mumbai to Goa.

1. Kashid Beach

You will always find locals, or travelers from the state of Maharashtra, enjoying themselves at Kashid Beach. It is a lovely drive to Kashid from Alibaug. Stopping along the coast to immerse yourself in the beauty of this gorgeous beach, is highly recommended. The white sand beach and clear blue waters, are ideal to take a swim during the day and just lay back and relax, watching the sunset. If you’re looking to unwind, the beaches of Konkan will allow you to do exactly that.

2. Vengurla

With a long coastline dotted with beautiful beaches to visit, Vengurla is a quaint fisherman town. Here you can also indulge in water sports such as scuba diving and parasailing. Sagareshwar is one of the best beaches in Vengurla, surrounded by Suru trees, which serve as a cool blanket from the burning heat of the sun. The beach is safe to swim in with a steady low tide and a relatively shallow seabed.

3. Velas

Olive Ridley turtles have made this beach very popular, not only in India, but also across the world. Female turtles migrate every year, in the months between November to March, and lay eggs. There are a couple of Non-Profit Organizations and volunteers who strive to protect these endangered species. Photographers and nature enthusiasts travel from far land just to capture the baby turtle’s first step towards the ocean. A visit to a Bankot fort is also advised on a visit to Velas.
